29 September، 2021

Sweden reiterated its criticism of Saudi Arabia's practices before the Human Rights Council during its 48th session, which runs from 13 September to 8 October 2021.

In a speech during the discussions on the fourth item of the session on 27 September 2012, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations Ms. Anna Jardfelt said that Saudi Arabia and other countries' use of the terrorism law, especially against activists, is worrisome.

Sweden called on Saudi Arabia to grant individuals their right to freedom of opinion and expression, especially human rights defenders.

Sweden has repeatedly called on Saudi Arabia uring previous sessions of the Council to respect freedoms, release political prisoners, and stop unfairly using laws.
