Denmark highlighted human rights violations by Saudi Arabia before the Human Rights Council.
The representative of Denmark, Mr Erik Brøgger Rasmussen, during the discussions of the fourth item of the 52nd session of the Council, on 22 March 2023, condemned the use of the death penalty in Saudi Arabia, as well as the use of torture.
The documentation of the European Saudi Organization for Human Rights confirms that Saudi Arabia's widespread use of torture is linked to the issuance of death sentences, as detainees are subjected to torture and ill-treatment at various stages of the trial, and confessions extracted under torture are used.
