Denmark expresses concern over Saudi detentions and executions

17 March، 2020

Denmark criticized the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued human rights violations.

In a speech at the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council, in the context of discussions of Item 4, Mr. Morten Jespersen stated that the ongoing prosecution of civil society in Saudi Arabia is an issue of concern.

Jespersen also expressed his country’s concern over the continued use of torture in places of detention, as well as the death penalty.

From the beginning of 2020 to 13 March 2020, Saudi Arabia carried out ten executions, and in 2019, there were a record number of executions. Furthermore, reports indicate the systematic use of torture in prisons.
